Odds and Ends

Part 11 - Final Touches

BBG Plate

Iron Butt Plates have to be earned.

Earned Accessories

A couple of my favorite accessories cannot be purchased at any motorcycle retailer, they have to be earned.

I believe these license plate backers are slikscreened and the ink doesn't hold up very well. I ordered a new set and clear-coated them. They seem to be holding up well, now.

Hemi Bug

I've picked up some strange bugs on those long rides.

Cute Stuff

I don't think there is any law that says a long distance rider can't have a nice looking, good handling, fully outfitted machine; I made one great 800 pound sport touring bike out of my Yellow Spot. When I saw the superbee emblem on the side of a Dodge Charger, I knew I had to have one.

Deer Strike

The new bike attracted many visitors.

Hard Work Rewarded

Less than a year after I finished putting it together, I was invited to display Yellow Spot III at the International Motorcycle Show in Seattle. That was a nice tribute to all the hard work.

Deer Strike

Altercations with deer could not end much better.

Third Time's a Charm

Six months after the Motorcycle Show, I was riding in the-middle-of-nowhere Oregon, at dawn, when four deer walked out in front of me, filled the road and didn’t leave room to stop or swerve. I was able to squeeze between the last two without crashing, but the left fairing, left radiator and top-shelter had to be replaced. Third crash, third bike, charmed? Am I’m done crashing them? I sure hope so! I’m getting kinda tired of building ’em.

Deer Strike

Those strikes do make a mess!!!.
